Hello,
Within the next few weeks a friend and I will be installing my ARB locker in the rear end of my Trooper.
I have the instructions and all, and my buddy is a certified mechanic and isn't too worried about the job (he's done a fair bit of rear end work on vehicles before), but I thought I would ask those of you who have done this install if there were any tips and tricks you would suggest?
Things to watch out for?
Thanks in advance,
Bryan

If your buddy has installed an ARB before, he shouldn't have many issues. That said, when I had mine done, and it was done by a guy who has done literally hundreds of ARBs, we still ended up calling Matt Brown for a point of clarification.

Also, check out www.rrr4x4.com. It is a club (Rainier Ridge Rams) out of Bellingham. It is a great bunch of people, present company excepted.

Sounds like fun. Not having any gear experience, I had Indy4x install it and ship me the third member, so I merely had the fun of installing the third...of course the rear is a lot easier third swap than the front.

Of course you will need an air source and associated tubing...I suggest you consider the Indy4x braided air lines (same as the brake lines, actually). I also strongly suggest the ARB compressors, whether the regular or the mini...the wiring harness that comes with the compressors rocks and saves a LOT of grief over trying to cobble something together yourself. And it will be more reliable, too. I looked at creating my own air system using a cheap MV-50 compressor I have, but with all the wiring and manifolds and solenoids and tubing that are necessary the ARB mini compressor was a deal all in all.

Actually, he has never installed an ARB before, which is what led me to ask if anyone had any words of wisdom for me.
I've had the ARB compressor installed for some time, I've just been waiting for the funds to become available so I could purchase the locker itself. These pieces of ARB equipment aren't cheap. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />
