With the move to Monterey, I want to buy a kayak to take out in the bay, be able to throw on top of the rig to take with us for camping and to fish out of. It needs to be a tandem set up so my 11 y/o can jump up front and go with me. I prefer one that is set up to receive rod holders and other fishing equipment. Does anyone have any experience in this area? All opinions and info will be considered. Thanks in advance!

My only advise in the Monterey Bay is to paddle upwind until your arms hurt then turn around <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

I really do want to see that boat. Post a link to where you got it, too, if you don't mind!

Thanks.

Sounds like you need a tandem sit on top kayak. Some of these come complete with all the fishing accessories. I fish out of a sea kayak, but it takes balance. A sit on top is a very stable platform for fishing and you can solo the tandem if needed. I use Outdoor Play for my kayaking gear. They even have free shipping on most kayaks. I finished my Richmond to Washington D.C. paddle (700 miles) and now I am going to circumnavigate the Chesapeake Bay.

Thank you for the reply and the link! I looked around there and like the looks of this one . I'm going to do a little more research before I make a decision. That's a little bit of money there!

Thanks again.
