Getting the Wheeling Fever
So I have a 1991 22RE standard transmission truck with a bad motor and I have found a motor from a 1994 22RE auto truck that was rolled. Is the ecu in the 91 going to work on the 94 motor (Being that the 1994 22RE is mated to an auto).

Both of these are 2wd. I will use the parts from the bad 91 to eventually swap into my 1982 4WD so this whole thing is related to 4 wheel drive in some way.

Thanks for the help,

Brett

Should work OK, might be some differences in connectors of sensors and actuators. If so, just swap those parts from the old engine to the new one. And in some cases, you may have extra sensors on the A/T engine, for example there is typically a coolant temperature sensor for the A/T computer on the t-stat housing. Either leave that unconnected or swap the t-stat housing from the old engine over.

I have done some research and it seems that there are some differences but nothing I can find concrete. If it comes down to it I will swap in the long block from the 1994 into the 1991 and call it a day.

IIRC the '92+22re's fuel injectors have a different impedance and wont work with the pre '92 ecu's. This isn't a real issue, just swap over the the '94 engine(block and head), but use all of the '91's electronics.

More than tread lightly. Leave it like you were never there, nor anyone else.

IIRC it was 89-90 they did the switch over for injectors (as well as the intake).
