well I've seen the truck numerous times before lol. but i would guess either they screwed up on the injector rebuild, bad fuel, or pump needs to be tuned.

But this is the first time you've seen "Maurie's" truck, right?

So burning blue on startup, but nothing after its warmed up?

Maurie, what's the status of the EGR? Blanked, solenoids removed... both?

unhooked the line and plugged it, that's all. It's not idling blue when warm just smokes allot when I'm on the throttle. I might blank the EGR in the next week or so.

Just an update. Mostly onboard with this topic, though for 4m40 injectors...

I have been having fuel consumption issues, lacking power and a little more smoke than I did at first. I tried most of the common fixes, but little difference. This culminated in a camping trip where I pulled my little trailer, and the truck really struggled. Add to this my oil level bizarrely increased... so... I pulled the injectors the other day and had them tested at the shop Maurie referenced above. All the nozzles are burnt, and two injectors are stuck open and dumping fuel. Unfortunately I'm leaving for holidays in a few days, and so they're ordering the parts, and I'll yank them again when I get back, and have them rebuilt. I'll report back on the results. I'm imagining a dramatic difference.

Just fyi, my truck now has just shy of 100k kms. If your mpg is going down, or you're lacking power, this may be something to check.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
I'm not sure if anyone else has seen this, but it looks like Hiflow has started making injectors for the 4d56 and has been makin them for the 4m40 as well. I've been meaning to give them a call to check out the price If it's reasonable, instead of cleaning out the injectors, it would be nice to have brand new ones...

any thoughts?

Once everything was apart and the injectors where out I plugged up any holes, locked up the truck and opened a Miller (you may choose a beer of your liking).

If I could only have a Miller I'd never do my injectors. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />

Got back from holidays, hauled out the injectors (again), had them rebuilt, got new washers/gaskets, and reinstalled them. I still have the 31s on, but it overall seems smoother in the few kms I've put on it since. The big test will be tomorrow, when I pull the trailer again. Last tank of fuel (through the rockies, towing, mind you) averaged 15.5L per 100 kilometers. Abysmal! If I can get back to 10L/100km again, I should quickly recoup my investment in the injectors. And some extra power will definitely be a bonus.
