Wow! Thanks to everyone for the concern, sympathy and good wishes; looks like I'm in some very good company. To answer your questions quickly:

1. No, wasn't hurt...I shard from the rear window nicked my forehead but didn't draw blood.
2. Alas, the rollover and the light pole crunched the lower right q. panel and the right-side wheels wheels were half ripped, so no convertible conversion.
3. I believe this will be it for Raiders for now--if I bought one now, my family would kill me if the next rollover didn't. But that doesn't rule out getting one for snowplowing and non-highway driving in future.

The tow company did leave me time to salvage the inclinometer (brown) from the wreck, but not the bouncy seat mechanism. So expect to see me post that, the mini-library) service and shop manuals, owners' manuals and Thule racks (which were in truck at time, not on top, to save gas) in the classifieds.
I also have a new aftermarket wiper motor, three quarts of Mitsu tranny fluid and one OEM and one Bosch premium oil filter left.

PS: Great headline, Peter!

Well on my way to becoming that eccentric old man in every town.(crazy as a s#@thouse rat) With a yard full of desireable old vehicles that tells you, Sorry they're not for sale..... Someday I'm going to fix them.

That Raider took a heck of a hit and kept you safe . From this angle it almost looks like you can start and move it.

It would be a shame to see you go to a lesser vehicle. Hopefully another will come along you won't be able to resist. Your family should be glad you were driving such a stout vehicle.

Pete, that sure is tempting--that is one of the sweetest Raiders I've seen! And I'd have a backup inclinometer to boot!

Actually, my roomate from 20 years ago who bought a Raider before me (and rolled it two years after buying it) moved out very close to you in Colorado. He drives a 4Runner now but I'll definitely tell him what's for sale. (After rolling his (on I-95, same highway I did), he went out and immediately bought another, but this was 1989.

Unfortunately, the light pole kept me from even trying to drive off. But since it blocked me from rolling back onto the Interstate, I'm not complaining [Linked Image]

Don't let the insurance keep the Raider. All that sheet metal is available...

It's still good, It's still good. Now you can wheel it without being carful about hitting stuff.

I just want to tell you both good luck, and we're all counting on you.

Believe me, I would have liked to have salvaged more parts to help everyone here keep their Gen1s running. But the accident took place pretty far from my home.

I know that exact spot on 95.. I always hated traffic out of there from CT going into NY.

If it makes you feel better... I drove a LWB through there every week and across the tapanzee bridge without any troubles

I definetly do not miss the traffic through there!
