Getting the Wheeling Fever

I am wanting to add a hand throttle on my 96 T100 4x4 5spd. Has any one done this on a T? Search found nothing. I noticed there is an extra cable mount on my 3.4L intake throttle body. I have the cruise control cable, foot throttle cable, and in-between the two there is a spot for a third cable, but no cable. There is also an extra cable mount/holder, but no cable. What is this for? It appears its for a cable to push the throttle open, instead of the cable pulling, like the other two cables do. It also works independently from the foot throttle. Is this on all the 3.4L motors? What was it intended for? Can it be used for a hand throttle? Thanks for any help, sorry no pics.

It is there on my truck. I thought it may be for a traction control to pull the throttle shut.

Thanks ^. Any one else have any info, or know for sure what this was intended for? No hand throttle T's out there? I added a hand throttle on a different 4x4 5sd and really enjoyed the usability of it.

Thanks, starting to make sense. I have never owned an auto, never would have guessed. So do any of you see a problem with using that location for a hand throttle? I like how the motor could be revved up from that location and not effect the throttle cable. (Seems to works independently)

I don't see any problem rigging up a hand throttle there, or any other way.
Lack of engine response to changing load is a problem. It takes very little throttle to really rev the engine up in neutral, but if you try to engage a load or move the truck, it will very quickly bog with a fixed position throttle.

I'm surprised to hear that the extra cable position is for the automatic transmission. What's it used for and how's it work?

Its probably for a kickdown cable... though I don't think these trucks ever had one. "Throttle kickdown: Most automatic transmissions include some means of forcing a downshift into the lowest possible gear if the throttle pedal is fully depressed. In many older designs, kickdown is accomplished by mechanically actuating a valve inside the transmission. Most modern designs use a solenoid-operated valve that is triggered by a switch on the throttle linkage or by the engine control unit (ECM) in response to an abrupt increase in engine power. The kickdown feature is designed to never select a gear ratio that would result in engine overspeed." http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Automatic_transmission

Auto trans has the kickdown cable, you can adjust it so it softens or hardens your shifts. I did it on mine b/c the shifts were lackluster, small bit of adjustment and bingo.
My 93 V6 camry had the exact same setup and one could adjust it too.
