My '97 Rodeo runs really well, but the frame is rusting out from underneath me from the winter salt on Maine's roads. I keep getting it welded to meet inspection, but I wonder how others have dealt with this and if anyone has ever replaced sections of a rodeo frame? Thanks.

Steve

There comes a point where you may just have to give up. You can continue to repair it, but you are addressing the problems you can see or are pointed out on the safety inspection. I would suspect there is a good bit of rust you cannot see inside the frame rails, let alone the body panels.

Can you continue to patch it? Yes. Frankly, I am surprised that your DOT allows this and you can find a shop to take the liability for their repair. It's not like we don't do it for sliders and bumpers, but...it is a bit different when someone else puts their business on the line to weld up a rusty, weakened frame.

You are probably better off to start looking for another vehicle. You could find another Rodeo and swap frames, but...that is not a small undertaking.

Sorry I don't have a more happy solution for you.

Good Luck,
Michael

Thanks for you candor, Michael. I love my '97 Rodeo, but I wasn't expecting a silver bullet answer to this issue. I wish Isuzu would make its own mid-sized pick-up. I'm looking at a late model Tacoma.
