Hi guys

Last night noticed my right headlight was out.

Had a look and it turned out the connector - small about 2 cm long, female, 3 flat pins on light, doesn't seem very secure- had come off. Put the connector back on (just pushed it on from the rear ) and now I notice that the light from this headlight is a lot duller and yellowish compared to that for the left headlight. The light ( looks like a sealed beam) is round, reads Hella, H4, E4 and several other codes. Would a good cleaning of the terminals bring the brightness back or should I look for a replacement? Will dielectric grease help protect it?. Are these lights readily avialable or do thety need to be imported?
All advice gratefully appreciated.

Thanks

John

those sealed beam lights can be bought locally no problem. you can start by cleaning the contacts and go from there. my old truck had the same problem, I just bent the prongs on the light slightly to make it a tighter fit when it plugged in and it worked pretty good.

Many thanks TM that brought the lights back to full strength.

BTW i thought I had sealed beams but it looks like the bulb will come out but it's not the same system as the current north american pull or push and twist with o ring system there's a spring wire clip that holds the bulb in the lens housing.

Sounds like a H4 style bulb. That is what my pajero has. Excellent headlamps and good selection of aftermarket bulbs.

Yep, H4: mine too. I just bought the GE Nighthawk after some research... its a very good bulb.
