You want more PS power on the IFS stuff....
I put a GM saginaw box in mine. It's pretty Straight forward.

Those are way expensive. I bought mine for roughly half that at $200 shipped to my door! Do a search for my threads for more on that. It will be in my 96 SR build up 'main' thread.

since you have a gen 1 put a gen 2 steering box in it. You'll need to drill one hole but you'll be able to turn 35's with your fingertip, it takes some getting used to onroad.

I agree with off-roader. expensive. I talked to the guys in TX last year. They said they'd completely rebuild the Mitsu box, do all the plumbing and supply all the parts. If I remember correctly it was about $400 for everything.
They recommended staying on the very mild side for the ram if you're putting it on a stock IFS suspension.

I was looking at tapping into the stock Mitsubishi box but I can't find any info on how to do it. I did a dana 44 swap years ago and put on 35" tires. The stock box did a great job with the 35's but now I just installed 38" super Swampers and I would like to do a ram assist. Will the Gen 2 steering box accept the Gen 1 pitman arm? I custom made my pitman arm and don't want to do it again.

Did a bunch of research year before last and early last year - never get further than that. Not all that high on my priority list since I only run 35s. I'll search around and post my findings for everyone here

The stock box is doing fine on the pavement but I haven't really wheeled it yet with the 38's. With the 35's and the detroit locker in front it would sometimes lock the steering until I let off the gas to free up the front. I expect that issue to get worse with the 38's. I made my own pitman arm using 3/4" steel plate, drilled a hole then welded the splined section which I cut out of the stock pitman arm into the hole. I drilled and tapped the other end of the arm for a 3/4" grade 8 bolt and used a 3/4'" heim joint. I really don't want to do that again if I don't have to. It would really be nice if someone had info on where to tap into the Mitsu box for hyrdo assist, anyone?
