We are upgrading our server within the next 2 weeks. I'll post more specifics as I get them.

The plan is, loosely: 1) have the new server installed and configured 2) do a test migration of our confs and data 3) validate/correct 4) wipe data and confs and do it for real.

On the actual day of the upgrade, we'll be offline for several hours with a page up explaining what's going on.

Ack!!! Oh no! Withdrawal symptoms time.

Good luck with that Joe!!

BTW, how far in advance can I warn the forum members? I know alot of them just take the Wire for granted as a readily available resource when working on their rigs. If they knew when it was possibly going down, they may be able to plan their vehicle maintenance and repairs around that time.

Edit My bad. I guess we've already warned them and I even responded to that thread. For some reason I was thinking that thread was in the mod's forum only.

The upgrade is to bring software current and to move to a single login between the portal and forums.

Thats what I was hoping for!

I'm clueless about servers. I diddnt know if this was an actual hardware upgrade, or just a software update.

This is a hardware, operating system, and core packages upgrade. This upgrade does not touch the forums, portal, or any other user-facing stuff.

The OS and core packages are required to move to a new forum system and the integrated login. And to fix Adam's Invalid Token issue.
