is this exhaust valve dirty, of does it have some sort of coating on it. i have heard of exhaust valves having a ceramic coating. or do i need to rub harder. the black bit is oil. ![[Linked Image]](http://f.imagehost.org/0674/ex_valve.jpg)
97 sportage, mostly stock apart from king springs front and rear, monroe shocks, k&n filter, pioneer mp3 cd, rampage 2x 10"subs and rampage amp.

Kinda hard to see, but coated valves are not uncommon, not sure if the sporty had them. A quick spin on a wire wheel will get and carbon build up off.

That valve looks pretty clean. You should expect a little carbon and you can see that on the back side of the valve you have a little more carbon.
