Getting the Wheeling Fever
Hey there Lads, I have been involved with Toyotas for years but now am looking for a Dakota ( somewhere between 01-05 )for a camper tow vehicle. I cant find a reliable source of tow specs any where. Can anyboby direct me to one. Thanks in advance for any help.

Depends on a number of factors....

What are you going to tow?

Starting with that:

What is the gross weight (fully loaded)?
What is the tongue weight?

Then, look at the potential tow vehicle....

What type of hitch capacity?
What is the gearing?
What is cooling capacity?
What is the brake capacity?

Typically, the smaller frame trucks are not designed to be a tow vehicle; especially for frequent use with heavy (50% or more of the towing vehicle weight) loads.

The rear bumper will have a place to mount a ball. If the mounting hole is 3/4 inch, you are probably good up to 2,000 pound trailer (that is fully loaded).

There are many variables involved with towing. Personally, I would not tow (long distance/heavy load) with anything smaller than a full-size truck.

That said, for more information, check: http://www.trailerlife.com/output.cfm?id=42175
