I searched the archives but couldn't really find anything. I want just enough lift on the rear that I don't have to do anything to the front except a torsion bar crank. 1 to 2" only. My plans are to then do a 2" body lift with 33's. I'm thinking shackles are the way to go but want to make sure this is the way to go. Where can I get the shackles or do I have to make them which is not a problem. Any info is much appreciated.

Shackles for a older Yota pickup from same era. Search and you should find the exact one. Also can do add-a-leafs, or have current ones re-arched. People have done all three routes.

You don't really need a spring lift for 33s if you are doing a 2" BL. Unless maybe for a full stuff into the wells.

I can fit 33's the way it sits now but I want some ground clearance for the frame hence the suspension lift and then I want the BL for more tire clearance when flexing. I will do some searching for lift shackles. I got a look at Tags Raider this weekend but he has the rear coils. I liked the stance of it. As for the add-a-leafs, wouldn't it put it lower since it is a axle over spring?

I acually googled it and found it on this website. Go figure. The shackles needed are front shackles to an 83 or older Toyota Pick Up (Part # 1084). Thanks for the reply.

We (mechanic/fabricator and I) make lift kits for Gen 1's.

2.5 inches of lift.

1" tapered balljoint spacers up front and beefy shackles in the rear.

Works great.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
what i did with mine is tb crank infornt, got me 2inches. but play of the upper arm was significantly lessened. did the bj flip with spacers, initially at 15mm, but i ate through 2 ball joints in a year. so, lessened it to 10mm.

the rear at first i tried original leafs but with extended shackles wchich looks almost exactly like the one on the pic, but the ride quality was compromised for the rear, so i decided to to add an original leaf the longest one, and just hack off the eyelets so that it will fit, plus i had all of the springs re-arched-got 2inches from both. it gave a better ride, but not significant, so in all i shouldve just stuck to the shackle extenders and not spend the extra cash.

Ah, raising the frame game, right... On the add-a-leafs, I always thought that they accomplished the lift by bolstering the other springs, thereby keeping them from flattening as much under load, which in turn effectively raises the rear.

I have a set, but have yet to put on. At this point, I don't think I will, as my hard(er) wheeling aspirations are being replaced with simple fun on the trails, due to limited time to spend with my kids. Let me know if you're interested in them.
