Need a Spot
I need to rebuild my Dana 44 on my 1952 CJ3A. How do you replace the bearings and seals? It appears that the only way is to get the outside hubs off. I have tried a pretty heay duty wheel puller and even applied heat at the same time... they wont budge... kneeil@hotmail.com

Getting the Wheeling Fever
First, I would by a repair manual - My first Jeep was a 48 CJ2A and in order to remove the rear axle and hub bearing assembly I had to open the rear differential and remove a clip from the axle shaft as I recall - now that was a long time ago so my memory is not so good - perhaps you could check on other forums?

Richard - 08 JK, 2.5" OME lift, nitrocharged shocks, Rugged Ridge front bumper with M8000 winch, JKS QDs - Olympic 221 rock sliders and rear rock crawler bumper, upper adj control arms f/r, JKS adj track bars f/r

Body Damage is Cool
No c clips on a old cj/willys axle.
A mondo hub puller is how it comes apart, tool rental places have them.
The key sometimes gets jammed up. 60 years of rust does not help.

I use one of these. Mine was sold by NAPA New Britain but OTC sells the same thing. Tighten the forcing screw down good and tight then whck the head of the forcing screw with a 2 lb. hammer. always worked for me.[Linked Image]
