A utility style bed is pretty straight forward. Most people just take measurements, make basic drawings, put together a materials list and start making sparks fly.
For myself, I'm going to make a fiberglass copy of the factory bed. -- Matt

Are you looking for a bed similar to that of the oem, or a flatbed/type design. You could build a flatbed w/rails and use saddle-bag style storage bins for the sides. Something similar to this: ![[Linked Image]](http://thumbnails9.imagebam.com/2811/21641428107944.gif) I cut the boxes down to fit my needs. This is what it would look like w/just the bed: ![[Linked Image]](http://thumbnails18.imagebam.com/3245/3fe49432449325.gif)
More than tread lightly. Leave it like you were never there, nor anyone else. '90 X-cab 4.88's 33 BFG AT's, rr ARB, Headers, Ignition upgrade, cold air induction. '91 X-cab 5.29's 315's BFG MT's, rr ARB, custom bumper and flatbed

It makes me rethink the whole idea of using an original style bed. I like the reinforced cage and the way it supports the roof rack and shovel. I'd like to do something like that and make a fabric enclosure to keep the bed dry for camping and such. -- Matt
