Getting the Wheeling Fever
I am picking up a good used "g80" code lsd rearend this weekend from a 93 trooper and plan on putting it in my 90. I have heard of adding clutches to make it work even better than stock. Is this something I could do by myself or no. Also where would I buy parts for it if I ended up doing that.
Thanks, Kyle

There is no such thing as a "good" LSD that is 16 years old. I can promise you there is no "limited" left in that diff. Unless it happens to have a gear ratio you are looking for, it is probably not worth the time/money to mess with.

As far as rebuilding, I am unaware of any available parts, short of a new carrier/LSD from Isuzu. You could call Merlin at St Charles and see what he can scare up, but in all my years on these boards, I cannot recall anyone who rebuilt a LSD.

It would be money better spent to look at the lunchbox locker Matt at Independent4x has or an ARB. It really depends upon what you are looking for. If you are going to be wheeling it, then take a serious look at a locker of some sort.

Good Luck,
Michael

My LSD in my 90 Montero that I took out of my 87 Raider works perfect. It is over 20 years old. It pulls posi every time on dry pavement gravel and mud. The only time it doesn't is when one of the back wheels come off the ground and even then all I do is pull the e-brake and posi it is. The only thing I need to do is change the gear oil only because I'm not sure when it was last done. Autozone has an LSD additive to put into the gear oil when you go to change it. I will be doing the same. My LSD made a world of difference when I put it in. Good luck.
