Getting the Wheeling Fever
My brother and i went out mudding one day and after we were done he noticed his jeep was making a loud clunking sound from the front drivers side.We checked the dif fluid and it was empty. We filled it up and its still doing it.There was no metal flakes in the fluid.Need help trying to figure out what this prob is.Im Thinking it might be the front drive shaft after the lift it is at a very bad angle.

He has a rancho 4" suspension lift
2"budget boost spacers
32" MT tires

You stated that the diff was drained of fluid and it was needing to be refilled. I am iclined to believe it is a leak in the front seals and the with the fluid evacuated the metal on metal prob destroyed something in the front axel... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

Then again you state the drive shaft is at an extreme angel...that to could have some play in this equation.

Check the u-joint yokes for signs of fresh rubbing.

And, with that much lift, did he do a tranny/t-case drop??

Extreme driveline angles are a disaster waiting to happen.
