Costco has a deal on a Mile Marker PE8000. I've been wanting to buy a winch for years and every time I need one I have a fit because I haven't bought one yet. Well, I'm ready. I don't do much wheeling and don't do anything too extreme.
Is the PE8000 a decent winch? I've been looking around online and see that some people complain about it being slow and others talk about solonoid failures. Is the gear ratio not ideal? Have solonoid issues been blown out of proportion?
This is going on a portable mount for my 92 extra cab 4x4.

So far, this isn't very encouraging.
It might be years before I need to use it. I'd be a little cranky if my 'new' winch didn't work or died soon.

We have a gorilla winch on the front of my wifes truck. wire's are heavy, so far it seems like a good winch. looks and sounds just like the warn winch. Check e bay for the gorilla.
oh, the replacement motor on the mile marker was 180.00 plus shipping. the cable is large but of poor quality. I had bird cages and crush spots after the first time I used it. I had re wound the cable also.

Can't go wrong with a used WARN. I picked up my X8000 for $225 a few years ago.

I didn't find too many good reviews on the Gorilla. I have looked for a used Warn off and on for a number of years. Any time I've found one it has looked like it sat at the bottom of the ocean for 10 years or the asking price is absurd.
I'll find something somewhere one of these days. Thanks fro the info.
