Need a Spot

Hello All. I'd like to take the full size spare tire off the back and replace it with a space saver one that will go inside. I've heard that toyota space saver tires will fit but i'm not sure. I'd like to know which cars I have to check when I get to the junk yard tomorrow. Does anyone know which tire will fit.

I don't think that it would be very safe driving on a doughnut (with speed restrictions of 25 mph) <and distance limit of 20 miles> given the total weight the 2 ton Sporty
.....Just curious as to why you would choose such a downgrade option contrary to vehicle safety?
----Just wondering

I always wanted to take the spare tire out of there and manage a place UNDER the truck. If you move the evap can out of the way,it should fit.I know i'll get it to fit one day. As for the life saver tire,i tought i could use the center piece of a regular sporty steel wheel and weld that back to any fair size life saver(with the center removed,of course).Any machine shop could do that.

How far you would get and how your insurance company would react to the fitment of a non-standard space saver tire in the event of an accident would also be worth noting, certainly given there is no correct standard fitment, and the Sporty weighs several hundred pounds more than most vehicles that use spacesavers (overloading the spacesaver tire???). Could be VERY expensive if you cause death or injury to anyone, because there will be no insurance company that would go anywhere near you.
Is there any REAL reason for doing this???? Seems pointless to save a few pounds, and I doubt whether it will fit under a shorty anyway. The longbody version has the spare inside and can barely take a 225/70R15. Good luck on finding and fitting a spacesaver tire with the same diameter as stock (and YES they do have to be the same rolling diameter as standard due to steering issues if fitted to the front, and overheating of the rear diff if fitted to the rear.
All in all, a really bad, flawed idea.

if Kia could have put in space saver tires and rims on the sportage they would have even to save a few bucks on them

Im guessing he has the new sportage.Im so confused Want's to take it off the back so it must be an older Sporty. A Donut Spare is a temporary band-aid for non off road usage only and very short distances as well. Not really designed nor recommended for use on a Sportage. Just my 2 cents
