Wow, what propaganda. Amazingly I had zero scary moments driving my Pajero again today.. Thanks for posting this. I'm going to contact a dealer I know on Vancouver Island and get a reading from him whether this is a majority or just some sht-disturbers.
I am now officially a Pajero owner. . 1992 Exceed w/winter pkg, roof tray, bounceys, the works

yeah thats rediculous. id be willing to bet that if the american car companies werent doing so bad, then this wouldnt be an issue. besides, even if it saves the workers at GM their jobs, it costs all the RHD importers theirs... Not to mention throwing away all the money that RHD owners spent on their vehicles. just makes me angry...

SO...IÆm wondering if the Canadian Gov or all the provinces start to do thisà when is someone going to have to tell local, municipal, federal and other agencies they now have to throw away all their new postal trucks, refuse trucks, delivery trucks, busses...etc etc.?

the Quebec government in its recent ban exempted all the garbage trucks, mail trucks, etc. they're only after the little guy like all governments

I like that they throw out statistics like they are the mathematicians. They are taking out of context the ICBC "study" that has been a bit of a hot topic for several years. Again, another example of how to best lie to people by using statistics. Also, the numbers they post for environmental concerns are rediculous. Yes, it is true that old vehicles polute more, we all know that. However, most of the vehicles they refer to, ie delica, land cruiser etc are diesel which have better economy than my neighbors 1978 ford f250 ranger. Not to mention, all of the less than steller examples of automobiles that cruise though the calgary area. Correct me if im wrong, don't the Vancouver guys have to pass the air care?? my buddy who used to have a 1979 mazda b200 diesel had to years ago when we were in university.

Even better...throw the 15 year rule out and let us bring in brand new! New diesel's for certain are cleaner than my 92 Pajero...and even more efficient.
But oh wait then the 30 cars the big three sold would not have sold..boohoo LOL

As long as highschool kids are buying Skylines like they were going out of style JDM vehicles are going to get a bad rap. People don't see the economy, and they don't really care. They just remember that #$%^ing kid that just cut them off on the Deerfoot. People get cut off 10 times a day by left hand drive vehicles, but they remember the weird right hand drive vehicle that was missing a front bumper, with a garbage can for a muffler and had an inter cooler the size of a house.
The other problem is that they talk about how they have an issue because of safety, yet they provided no stats relating directly to safety, just stats relating to the number of JDM vehicles being imported. Are they forgetting England where you can purchase a new left hand drive car in a right hand drive country (e.g. some smart cars)?
Now that I've been driving right hand drive for almost 6 months I have a complete understanding of my vehicle dimensions, and find it just as easy to pass and turn left as in a lefty. I know that JDM vehicles are safe. That said, I'm probably contributing to people wanting to ban us. I drive slow (as in the speedlimit, I do this to conserve fuel), have a big ugly steel bumper and huge tires. I let my truck idle to warm up and when it's cold my parking area gets filled with diesel smoke.
