Hello I am new here and have a question if you don't mind. I am pretty familiar with a variety of 4x4s and shopping for a used replacement at the moment. I don't know much about Rodeos but it seems like a good choice from early 2000 at 6-7k however, I would prefer a manual transfer case. Can someone tell me if the Rodeo or Amigo ever came with a maual? I will be buying a 5 speed but would also like 4hi & low to be manual. Thanks for any response. Do you all like Amigos? I always thought theey looked pretty bad arse.

Not sure about Rodeos, but on Troopers the shift on the fly, vacuum-actuated 4WD engagement came in on 96 models IIRC.

One of the cases I have laying around is from a '95 Rodeo and its manual shift; so you're good up until that point for sure. All 1st gen (89-94) Amigos were manual t-case. The 2nd gen started in '98 and IIRC they're SOTF with push-button engagement; but not 100% sure on that.

Realize that if you get a manual tranny, you will also have to change the tranny to get a manual tcase as on the Isuzu manual trannies the two cases are one. I suppose that it is possible that you could make the new 5 speed and the old t-case work together, but I am reasonably sure that no one here has done it, and perhaps only Jerry LeMond can give you a definitive answer.

Thanks very much for the replies. I have found the truck I want and turns out I don't have that many choices to make the question such a big deal. I am going to get an automatic (my first) and it Does have a manual tcase. I am excited about it. Its a 2002 Rodeo Sport with a V6. It is the only 4x4 2dr Rodeo I could find within 500 miles of my house. I go to pick it up this Saturday.

Clarification: I should have said it has a manual "selector" which as was mentioned operates a vacuum rather than linkage.
