Last year I approached a crossroads: restore my '89 Raider, abandon it, or start looking for a replacement.

Especially after this winter, it has become apparent that there is too much rust to fight. That coupled with a few other body defects from off-roading makes it not worth attempting to fix the damage caused by age.

My dilemma is that the guts are fine: Engine rebuilt in '04, A/T in '05, suspension and steering in '09, along with a whole host of other minor mechanical touch-ups.

What I'm looking for is a donor body and chassis, preferably from the SW with little-to-no rust and little-to-no body damage. I don't care if it runs or not, I just need a vehicle that's not unstoppably rotting away to carry on the GenI tradition.

If anybody sees one in the SW for a reasonable price, please let me know!

Don't think I haven't thought long and hard about purchasing the SR, but I likes my boxy little 2dr 3.0L. If I were to purchase the SR, it would be another vehicle to the fleet.

'89 3.0L V6 automatic Raider/Montero is what I'm after. No rust. Don't care about the functionalitiy of it's innards.

Its not mine but how about this one. It looks to be in awesome shape and not to far away. To me the 5-speed with a V-6 is a bonus. Or you have all the parts to swap it over to an automatic but I think that would be crazy. And a back up engine. ehhh???
