Body Damage is Cool
lets see......
in our car, contrary to efficiency, the engine one is BEHIND the AC one, obviousty because we have the engine-belt driven fan for cooling..

But NOT all of us. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
in the case that an elektrik fan is installed how much sence it makes you to reverse the order of the radiators and have ( by swapping places or just mounting behind )the engine one in front for better cooling??

Your AC will not be as cold. It probably could be done but why?
Are you overheating?
If so, maybe your radiator is old...
What I did was remove the AC electric fan and put a 16" pusher on the AC condenser and a puller on the back side of the radiator.
Works great!!
You should also check your thermostat if you are having overheating problems.
Easiest way is in a pan of water on the stove with a candy thermometer. Check the temp of the water as it rises. You should see the thermostat start to open at around 180f or so.
Just my 2 cents...

( For argument shake.... )

No I am not overheating at least not mechanicaly..
my basic problem is..... mud
and thow I love splashing around washing the radiator is a pita..... since its behind the ac one and with the sroud in place its not easy to clean it from behind..

Now concerning the AC I am looking to my other car that the AC behind and doesnt have efficiency issues...
Dont forget I have an electric fan for the engine...

( as I said for argument shake...)

...just for arguments sake...
On the AC--The other car you looked at was probably designed to be that way. The Sportage was designed for the condenser to be in front therefore it may not be as cold as before...
If it is easier for you, then go for it...
Let us know what the outcome is! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

since you have an elec fan, why not remove the shroud????wouldnt that make the whole scenario easier????

Everet... yes- hypotheicaly - the system is designed this way for the AC opperation.. Hmmm thats a consideration...

londart - in theory the sroud helps fun to suck air fron the complete radiator and not the part that is right infront of it
other than that its a nice place to mount the fan
I consider passing through the core mounting skrews VERY dangerous in offroad use, since tha vibrations might damage the rad.

I would not remove the shroud, it contributes significantly to the efficiency of your radiator fan.

placing the radiator in front of the ac would one leave your fan less efficient on the actual radiator and make your a\c warmer because it will be getting the warm air from the radiator

the fan would be less efficient because instead of the fan pulling air over the whole radiator and having the shroud direct it it would rely on whats left of the pulling force after the ac radiator...i hope this makes sense.

if you wanted the rad in front.. in theory you would almost have to run a pusher fan on the front.

Hm... interesting....
But look how many cars have it this way

( But yes you have a good point there )
On the other hand if the engine radiator is in front it is cooled muuuuuuuuch more effectively so the fan will not be needed so much...

and yes possibly - probably I would say the ac efficiency will drop...
