he sold it, and it is no lnger going to have a 4 link 18" lift. i bout it from him, well for he most part bout, im taking everything under the frame out, putting some 3/4 ton axles under it and putting leaves on it. and its going to have some 37's under it with room to spare. but seeing as how he did most of the hard work to it like the 4.3 swap, redoing the frame, ect.. its just a matter of me getting what i need to finish it. but his monty he has will soon be a forced to be reconed with.

I thought it already had d44s under it? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> If I were you I'd either run it or put some 1 tons under it and 42s, but thats just me... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

it does have 44's under it. but they are narrow width, im going full. and for what im doing a 60 and hd44 is all i need for now. plus since im getting rid of the 4 link and going to springs i dont have to worry about grinding off any of the trusses, or welding new spring perchs on. that and im getting a set of 37's for free and theres no reason to run anything bigger than a 38 here anyways. not really much of a reason to run 37's eather. but they are free so.

The bigger axles is def a plus, but going to springs will be a minus. You already have half the work there. Just go with coils, You'll be happier.
And yeah, not too many places you'll need anything bigger than 38's, but I hope you plan on going to bigger and better places than Uwharrie to test that thing. With the same lift, I'd def go for 40's, you can def pull it off. Best of luck

I am surprised it took this long for the announcement to be made, considering he sold it what... a month or so ago? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

If you're gonna run 37's then you really dont need 3/4 ton stuff.
IF it were me, I'd keep the link setup, and lower it down to where 37's fit good, and go from there.
Whatever you do..... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/kewl.gif" alt="" />

ye i know it took a while to say he sold it, but hey it hasnt left the barn so no rush right.there is still alot of work to do to finish the 4 link setup. and since this is going to be a street legal truck leaves are better suited for me, and i can adjust the lift if desired alot easier. im not the greatest person when it comes to working on cars so leaves are easier for me to deal with, and simpler to maintain. im going with 3/4 ton axles because they cost the same as 1/2 ton, and if i ever do decide to go 1 ton, the setup is done, rims ect.., and as i said befor im going 37's because of the greatest price ever free. and ye i would like to take this truck to bigger places, but it will be a while. work is shaky, getting married in september, and whatnot. and if yall really want to leave it the 4 link, well you can buy the setup. im sure nc will work somthin out with ya.

Thats what he wants to do, no skin off my butt, I'll help him set it up, and knowing me I'll either sell those axles or get some new ones for the LWB I'm 6'4" the Montero is a little tight so I figured hey I got two why not help a friend out. I have been eye balling land rover front axles, there like toyotas with a removable third, the have radius arms like a mitsu coil rear, and some have cv axle shafts, but some have closed knuckles, just an idea I was kicking around

LR this is strictly a question, but you did a 44 front right and it broke with 36's, to solve that problem your putting out a decent amount of cash I assume for CTMs and Molys. Would it not be wiser to put in a heavier axle to not break when running a 36 inch tire and save some cash? I'm not sure what the axles he's putting in will hold up to but supposedly a 44 is good up to a 36 tire, whether or not that is the case for a 8 lug d44 is beyond me without some research.
