Need a Spot
This weekend I replaced the valve cover gaskets on my '89 Raider with the 3.0 V6. When finished I noticed that my Thermo Valve assm. had broken off the vacuum connecters. It's located next to the thermostate housing. Two vacuum hoses run from it to the throttle body assm. My question is what is it for, and how will it effect operation with it being broken? Where can I get a replacement? Thanks.

A check of the "search" function will show several posts describing thermo valve function.

The device is part of the EGR control system - in conjuction with the EGR solenoid valve and the EGR valve.

You should be able to get one from a dealer.

There is a thermo valve and there is a thermo switch.

IIRC the Thermo valve has 5 vac lines and the thermo switch has two. I would have to look at the FSM but I sold it when I sold my 88.

The thermo-porcupine used on the 2.6L and 2.0L is thankfully not used on the 3.0L.

I'm pretty sure he's talking about the thermo switched valve at the top/front of the water box - breakage is common on the 3.0L with heat and age.
