Getting the Wheeling Fever
I bought a 2008 tacoma TRD double cab brand new for $6000.00 under sticker. The bad news is that it was built in 10/07. I now have 1600 miles on it and I am getting worried about how old the oil is. Are there any Toyota Certified mechanics out there who could tell me if I should change it now or not to worry about it? I am not even shure if its synthetic or not. Thanks for any help

Check your owner's manual for recommended intervals and oil weight for your area. You can also get a service sheet from the dealer with your VIN; they'll print one out for you. It's for all routine maintenance.

Oil goes bad after a year. Ask toyota to change it all for you (engine oil mostly)

Need a Spot
Toyota Certification MEANS NOTHING. ASE certification means you worked in the "trade" for two years+, or went to school 2+ and worked in the trade 1 year+, AND were able to pass a test (or a few tests).

"Toyota Certification" means you sat in a couple seminars. If in doubt, change it. Good oil is cheap insurance.

Always look over and check your truck after an oil change (or better yet, do it yourself). Most quick lubes, even dealership ones, DO NOT USE MECHANICS TO CHANGE OIL. They hire cheap labor and train them. Low pay means little attention to detail. Loose drain plugs, forgotten oil fillup, missing cap, you name it. They all happen in a quick lube.
