There was a show about "The Death Road" in Bolivia on History Channel (?) about what may be the most dangerous highway in the world. It rises from La Paz over a pass to just over 15,000 feet, and then descends into the Amazon Basin over a distance of about 30 miles. There are 2,000 foot drop-offs and no guard rails. In the show, the camera crew passed numerous Montys.

I cant swear to it, but night before I bought my Montero I saw a movie that had an 89 - 90 in it.
This was a really crappy chick movie...as I recall it was about a girl whose father was so smart it made him insane. The girl had to take care of her father, and help him solve some mathmatical formula that drove him crazy. And in the process she discovered her own genius. In other word a crappy movie....
I dont remember actors names very well
I think the girl drove a red Montero.

I found out the actress name Gweneth Paltrow in Proof "A woman struggles to come to terms with the..." Near the end she does driving and (and crying) in a Montero. It might hace been a Range Rover or Jeep.
Like I said, not a recommended film....just a coincidence

If memory serves, there's a scene early in 'Body of Lies' where the heroes are being chased through the desert and I think it was Monty - gets blown up by an RPG.

My Favorite old school show, The A-Team, Season 2 Episode 1
10:24 in, as they are driving somewhere in "Africa" (somewhere in the Universal Studios backlot" coming into a little mining village, there are 2 Monty's (Pajero if they actually filmed in Africa) parked, '83-'84 era, identified by the grill. What's funny is that these were new when filmed, just to show the age of this show, which therefore makes me feel even older now that I think of it :-( Anyway, thought i'd mention this one for the "old timers" out there :-)
Oh, same shot has a Land Cruiser on the right also looking new.

I saw like 3 or 4 modified late model l200s in the District 9 movie. The white MNU trucks were a Toyota Hilux, and man those things look sweet... <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

I think the car in the 2nd Bourne movie looks to be a SWB gen 1. The one where his girlfriend get shot while driving across a bridge.
