Getting the Wheeling Fever
I have a 85 runner with 5 inch skyjacker springs and hydro shocks. The problem is the rear flex or lack there of. I'm looking for ideas to change the rear or entire set up with a tight budget (under 800 dollars) in mind. Thanks

So your looking to do both front and rear, or just the rear?

How much lift are you wanting?

Do you have the stock steering setup? Drop pitman arm?

Theres lots of options, depending on if you want bolt in, if you have stock steering, or if you want to move the spring hangers around, junkyard springs, name brand springs, and the list goes on.

Biggest factor for front flex will be the stock steering setup. Going with crossover/hysteer in the front will give you better movement of the steering arms and allow you to have more flex in the springs. Too much flex with the stock steering system and you can break steering arms.

I have cross over steering and no sway bar on the front and it does ok to the point I need to trim the fenders. The rear is terrible due to the spring arch and minimal shock travel. I run 35's and want to stay with that. I have no welding skills but could take it to a guy I have seen guys going with full size chevy leaf set ups but I don't know what all is entailed in fitting them to the 4runner.

Chevy springs with an add-a-leaf and longer shackles should clear 35's. Or chevies with some cutting of the fenders.

Sky sells some hangers.

What models do the springs have to come off of?
