Getting the Wheeling Fever
Hello everyone, I am in need of 2 center caps and one retaining clip for a gen II. I have found this item on ebay and other sites but the ones I have found are pricey. I thought I would give it a shot here and maybe someone would have some spare ones laying around.
Thanks for the help,
Mike

They are pretty pricey for a reason though, they're getting harder and harder to find since they tend to break more easily with age. Also as these rigs age, other owners who may not care for these rigs as much as we do tend to handle these more delicate parts a little roughly and use whatever means they have to "persuade" the caps on and off. So by the time we get them - even to part them out - the caps are damaged - or missing. Hence your problem!

Two of the spare caps I have have pry damage where they are starting to split. the others mostly broken retaining tabs. The only good rear caps I have are about 3 solid (rear) caps for the Gen1. 3 other rears have damage.

I have about 6 open (front) caps that have at least one broken tab.

If your open to using caps with a broken tab (still functional) then PM me.

Otherwise try Russell (rxinhed), or you may have to pony up on those ebay prices.

Jim,

There are several differences between the Gen I and Gen II caps. I presume that the Gen I steel wheel caps will work for the Gen II steel wheels, as long as the appropriate retaining spring is used. The alloy caps won't interchange due to thickness differences in the wheel center. Third, the Gen II hubs are rounded where the Gen Is are more square in cross section.

Hunt on Craigslist and your local DIY yards.
