I used a 1 lb hammer and banged around the edges of the drum. Since I was not going to re-use the drum, i didn't really care if it broke or not (which it did not), but i don't know if any damage was done in the process. It did take quite awhile (5-10min), but it finally vibrated enough to break loos from the studs and the center part of the axel.

Just to be sure, you have the e-brake off, right. I've done that one before...

Adjusters work opposite on oppo wheels...

It's likely that your drum is stuck on the face of the axle flange, and not the shoes.

Make sure you backed the adjuster all the way in, and the axle will spin freely, then install all the lugnuts so you don't accidentally hit the studs with the hammer, and them smack the poopoo out of the drum face with a fairly light hammer. Not a huge 10 lb sledge. You want speed, not force. After a few times, you should hear it start to make a different sound, and it should come off.

This works 99% of the time.

I like to get a little prying force on the back rim of the drum to put it under strain, then smack the poopoo out of the face. Once it starts, it's easy if the adjuster is backed off right.
