When I put my Sportage in 4wd and take off it sounds like something is binding up. I'll get a loud banging noise every few seconds and when I hit the gas. I've checked and regreased both front hubs, checked and greased the front drive shaft. What else should I check?

No, it was fine last year and I first noticed it at the beginning of winter with the first big snowfall. It does it on pavement, gravel, wet grass, pretty much all the time. At higher speeds it still does it but it's not as noticeable, just feels like you're hitting cracks in the pavement, at slow speed it's really noticeable, you can feel and hear it. I'm pretty sure it started after I put the front lift on, don't know if that would have anything to do with it though. There was someone on here a while ago that sounded like she was having the same symptoms with her Sportage, pretty sure she didn't have a lift on it though. And yes, it does it in a straight line.

On mine the cv shaft seals went, and the noise was the hubs kicking in and out. Mostly while on slippery ground though. And really loud thumping. But i could tell right away when it went from 2 to 4 wheel drive.

Sounds like the front bearings are gone...

They are a part of the halfshaft?

The halfsaft goes throu them, they support thiw end of the shaft
