can anyone explain how to successfully change my cv boots. I tnk i can do it myself but jus have no idea how to start or proceed. I know ppl do them themselves all the time and if i can save some money and do it myself im all for tryin!

Why don't you start with the shop manual? Section "Suspension and Axle -- Front Drive Shaft (4WD)" (pages SA-36 -- SA-41 in my copy). Detailed description and pics.

Looks reasonably involved, and that you have to pull the whole halfshaft with both CV joints. Calls for a snap ring expander and a brass bar and brass hammer.

Axle replacement

This is for the shafts. If I remember right, for the effort involved changing out the boots and the cost of the boot kits vs. rebuilt axles could be the best way to go. Otherwise, buy the kits, cut the old bands off and remove the old boots. Relube and replace the boots and bands. I have not done the last part so have no idea if there is a problem getting the new boots over anything. I know that lube is pretty nasty. If you have enough miles on it the CVs could be bad anyway.
