Getting the Wheeling Fever
|
I have a 1990 trooper with the gm automatic trans. It almost has 200,000 miles on it and I don't think it is going to last much longer. I went on a long highway cruise and in high gear after a couple hours of driving it was like down shifting. Acting like it couldn't hold a gear. Then today I started hearing a noise that sounds like its coming from the tranny. That only makes the noise when the gas is pressed. So I was wondering where the best place is to buy a new or rebuilt trans. Like where online or what kind of transmission shop has the best deal. Thanks Kyle

I know this isn't what you asked but for a vehicle that old I would search at car-part.com for a used one...either DIY or find someone who will install for a price.

Sounds like what happened to my 94. I had it rebuilt by a local shop that was recommended by a mechanic I trust. So far it has worked very well, and I expect it will last the rest of the truck's life
