Gentlemen, I give you the "Snot" Rocket.
After almost two years of off and on working on my son's Monty, It is almost done.
[Linked Image]
I bought this ride as a first car for my son, one we could work on together. The engine was blown, and the paint was crap but the body was extremely straight.
[Linked Image]
We completely went through the engine (punched it .045")
Used a lot of advice from this forum / Thankyou for the help.
and after adding the auxillary lighting, I told him that if he drove through the winter without wrecking it, that we would paint it this summer.
Well he didn't wreck it and so we just got done painting it.
My son picked "Big Bad Green" over Black. After the paint my brother did the custom Orange stripes and the lettering.

Needless to say, He is very proud of his ride, and he can say he did it! Not many 17 year olds can say that anymore.
All we are looking for now are some 15" spoked steel rims that we can paint to match the body. If any body has some, we are willing to trade the aluminum rims that are on it for them.
Note: the Iron Cross on the spare tire was made by painting parts of a very ugly hubcap.

Because the other hubcap we found was wire spokes.

The 33's are in the distant future. He has to afford gas and is MPG concerned. We will probably start with some 31x10.50's.

Thanks for the reply.

Nice truck. I like the different color scheme.

As for the 31's those are stock tires on some models so it should have no problem running them.

I've found that the one change that gives the most impact to my gas mileage was to change my driving habits and be significantly less aggressive on the skinny pedal. i.e. drive like a granny. But then again, w/ my 96 or my 89 most don't confuse me w/ a granny.
