Anyone know where to get one for a halfway decent price. The things are $150 at Autozone. Am I going to have any problems, other than high idle, by running with the thing unplugged until I can get a new one?

Body Damage is Cool
I bought on off ebay a while ago. If you go to the Bosch web sight and cross referance the number you will know what other cars use the same idle air controler. It will help with your search on ebay. Mine came off a Jag I believe.

I tried the junkyard I usually go to and they instituted a new minimum of $50 for pulling parts and also said I would have to buy the entire engine. I laughed and walked out. Gonna try a different junkyard today if it doesn't rain, either that or buy the $40 (+$10 shipping) one off of ebay.

My Sportage will barely run when it's plugged in and runs okay when it's not. It's been unplugged for three or four days now and it seems to be losing some power, so something is probably getting crudded up somewhere.

Plugs were changed late last fall and one of the coils is going bad so that's part of it. I went to change the coil, put a new one in, put everything back together and it ran like crap. Put the old coil back in and still ran like crap and started throwing a bunch of codes, one of which had to do with the IAC so I unplugged it and it started running much better. I still have to put the new coil back in it.

The plug wires are new last year, the wires that go to the coil are suspect because the plugs are in bad shape and I have to be pretty careful taking them off and putting them back on.
I went to the junkyard at noon, they had an IAC on a Hyundai with a 6 cylinder engine but it was mounted differently so I didn't think it was the right one, got back to work and checked online and it is the right one so I get to make another trip after work to go get it. Pain in the butt to get to though because they have the highway entrance ramp blocked off by work so I have to take the long way.
