I'm looking for a dif side output shaft seal (front) for my '91 shorty. I'm not having too much luck so far (ARG). So far I've been trying to hunt down a seal for a 92 Monty. I have three different part numbers for national (don't know why there are three listings) and one form CRH. I also have an extra 2 listings from national that parts source have given me. I've got a call into two Mitsu Dealerships but neither one seems to want to call me back (carma for all the voice mails I don't return at wrok).
From what I can see the dimensions of the seal are: Shaft: 2.441 Bore: 3.071 OD:3.08 Width: 0.276
I looked in the faq but didn't see anything.
If anyone has part numbers, suggestions or any other information that would be great. And yes Nigel, that was an invite for you to make a bad joke.

hahaha no maurie, I'll be nice this time. I would take your seal out **WITHOUT** damaging it and then take it into a bearing shop, they can get the numbers off it and most likely you'll walk out the door with one in your hand. and buying them at bearing shops is usually 1/4 the price from buying from a parts store. I do that with all my bearings and seals.
I usually go to Commercial Solutions, here in Red Deer they stock ALOT of bearings/seals we use. they had all 4 wheel wheels bearings/races for my old D-50 in stock.

I found the mitsu pn's for Maurie. Just for future reference for anyone else doing this, if you're attempting to crossref to the US V6, remember that the auto and manual versions have different front diffs, so different oil seal pn's.

Tried the bearing shops. Not much luck. I even tried a seal distributor. I'm going to play with parts numbers tomorrow and see if I can confirm the National part number. From any of those I should be able to get measurements. I'm not going to pull the current seal out as it holds back the majority of oil. If I can't get a seal before Whipsaw at least I'll be able to run the trail. I'll just check my dif fluid at the same time as I check my oil.

It just so happens that I'm vacationing/visiting my inlaws. My wife's father is a partsman and owns an industrial supply shop. He'll have your part, or be able to find it. Let me run those numbers past him.

Father in Law says he's found your seal through National Oil. About $16.00, but not in stock. It's a metric seal and only about 7mm thick. Sound about right?

Thanks for looking all of that information up! I've been talking Transmission Supply down on 42 AV. They tell me it has an inside dimension of 1.339 and outside of 2.559.It is fairly thick. I'm going to have measurements on it tonight. Where is your father in laws business located?

Sorry, but your numbers above say Width: 0.276. That's where the 7mm width came up. Post here when you check those numbers again.
He's up in NE Saskatchewan.

I think the first set of parts numbers they gave me, and therefor the first set dimensions where wrong. The latter number I posted seems to be much more accurate. According to the one shop I talked to the depth of the seal should be 7mm. I double checked while the shaft was still out and 7mm sounds right. I ended up putting the truck back together as I needed it on the weekend.
As it turns out, the seal has stopped leaking (go figure?). You'd think after taking the CV axle out and putting it back together the leak would have gotten worse, but no. I just don't understand Mitsubishi's.
For now I'm going to live with my ticking time bomb of a front axle seal, but I think I'm going to start a thread of seal parts numbers asI want to do the T-case, and dif seals in the fall.
Thanks for everyones help.
Maurie
