To the mechanics out there do you know of any big TSBs on Vibe airbags? My wife drives an 05 Vibe and both airbag lights are on. So I was wondering if there is a way to pull the srs codes without paying the $80 diagnosis fee? Anyways any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Ben

You can't pull codes on anything except basic engine diagnostics without a scan tool. Peripheral devices such as airbags and ABS are generally proprietary.

Short answer, no.

I'm with Clay on this one. Suck it up and take it to the folks that made it. Especially on safety issues, your wife's worth it? <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cyclops.gif" alt="" />

Call the dealer with the VIN and see if there are any TSB's or recalls for the system; there very well might be.

Something common you can check for (and this applies to pretty much all cars) is crap under the front seats. This can put tension on, or cut/break, the airbag wires for the seat position sensors and/or the seatbelt pretensioner and/or the side-impact bag if equipped.

x2 on Margies suggestion to call the dealer. However, getting a 17 digit VIN correct over the phone is pretty difficult.

Don't forget about the world's greatest link in the Tacoma forum- online FSMs. The Ebsco host link has TSBs for many models, as a great starting point!

I pm'd flannelman the appropriate linkage.
