So I eventually decided ti go with a weber. Ordered a 32/36 from webercarbsdirect. It looks like if I could just mount the mikuni arm to the weber, this would be a breeze. Problem is that there isn't enough room to bolt it on next to the one the weber comes with. The instructions say something about a spacer you can grind down, but don't see what they are referring to. There is also the issue of the weber arm having a hole for the arm that comes down from the choke. Even if you bolt the mikuni arm on next to the weber one it will interfere with the kickdown mounting point.

What did you guys do?

I will post pics of mine and how I went about it. It works really good I have the jet spec's too <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> out of the box they run real fat and get bad gas Mpg. did you get the adapter plate for the manifold too?

Yeah I got the actual kit with the adapters, hoses, clamps, etc. If I get the arm thing figured out it should be easy to mount the bracket for the throttle cable and it looks like I'll be able to keep the kickdown exactly like it is stock.

I figured there would be some tweaking needed, but it also says to get it running before making any changes.

Anyone hack up the factory intake to make it fit the weber?

I did read the many weber threads back to something like '04, but there weren't any pictures and some said they had to fab a bracket for the kickdown while others said it was no big deal.

i was able to use the stock arm off the monty but i had to modify it for the kickdown and the choke is unhooked.

Ok the mikuni arm will definately fit on the weber. Problem is the arm that connects to the choke is difficult to modify without binding the linkage. I'm going to try using some aluminum fencing ties and see if it's strong enough hold it's shape. So far I've drilled a hole in the mikuni arm about where the weber arm has it's hole. Just need to fab up the choke arm and everything will be hooked up.

I was unable to finish today thanks to one of the top plate bolts being longer than the others. Other than that I sat the weber on the adapter and it looks like the throttle will work fine with the bracket that was included and the kickdown will bolt up just like it was on the mikuni.

I'll post up details and pics when it's up and running.

the Weber sits a lot higher than the mikuni so when i put the kick down on i could not get it adjusted right.i used a zip tie to connect the cable to the arm than i could get the proper length and i wanted.

Those are good pics, just no kickdown. I also saw the issue with the kickdown and see what you meant abou the zip tie. I ended up doing the same thing with some fencing wire. If you max out the bracket adjustment for the kickdown it will bolt on, but it's pulled out a little even at idle so the shifts are late.

The throttle hooked up with the bracket in the kit without any modifications. I was able to make my own choke arm out of a fencing tie. It's rigid enough to hold it's shape yet easy enough to bend into the shape you need. This keeps the choke function working and I also cut off the harness from the mikuni and used the original choke wire for the weber. I have some adjusting to do and I had some issues with the FPR I bought.

Is it just me or is the weber louder as far as sucking in air?

It's not you - the Weber sounds like a turbine and the wimpy air cleaner doesn't mask much noise.

I've driven it a couple days with the Weber. So far it has quite a bit more power than before, not a big deal to cruise at 65 with the a/c on now.

Do you have to floor it before you start it after sitting to engage the fast idle cam? I think I read that somewhere, but don't have the instructions with me and it fired up and idled at the regular idle speed this morning.

Whats the deal with the jets? I haven't filled it up yet to get numbers on mileage, but then again I don't know the first thing about tuning a carb. Where would you start to figure out jet size? I guess I'll get a FP gauge to make sure I'm feeding it the 3.5psi it requires and go from there.
