Need a Spot
Well, I popped a brake hose on the way to work today.

I missed the dog , but I'm going to need to replace some hoses. I think I'm going to get braided.

Can anyone here save me some time and clue me into what size the fittings are?

And am I right in thinking there are just 3 to replace? The 2 in front and 1 in the rear?

Oh yeah, it's an 89 Raider with a 3.0L.

IIRC Goodrich (sp?) brakes makes a set of braided lines and they're DOT approved.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
This little project was prompted by my rear brake line blowing out.

Here is a list of the adapters and fittings I used from Summit Racing:

1x EAR-63010112ERL (Rear Hose)
2x RUS-656242 (Front Hoses)
3x RUS-641411 (10mm to AN3 adapters...these came in pairs)

You may want to verify your hose lengths. The rear hose will likely work better if it had a 90 degree fitting on one end.

Here's a pic of those Summit items, with a closeup of the fittings so you can see how they mount (just like the old hose ends).
As for shots of the actual installation, it was surprisingly difficult to take any good pictures.

Thanks SRTNate. That's the info I was hoping for!

off-roader, I couldn't find anyone with the kit. I'm assuming the ends are vehicle specific and I think I would rather adapt to a standard size hose anyway.

A good warning that we should all check our brake lines once in a while. Who knows if they have ever been changed?

20 year old lines.... Nothing I want to bet my life on.

In stock at tirerack.com. They are a bit on the pricey side at $182.00 for the kit, and they are for V6Æs only. Hope this helps. My mistake, special order.

Greg B, that's funny - they appear for an 89 Monty but not for a Raider. Come on people, let's work on our cross references.

Wow! 182 is many moneys. I'll be around $60 with adapters and stock hoses. Just have to find time to make it happen.

Kevin C, it was a little dicey. Luckily, it was the rear hose that popped, so I still had a little action from the fronts. Spread the word - check your hoses.

Body Damage is Cool
Just wondering why you didn't go with a pair of Earl's in the front? P.N. EAR-63010116ERL looks to be the same length as the Russel and are $14 each cheaper also the Earl's adapters P.N. EAR-989534ERL are $32.34 for 6. Gets to total from $114.23 to $67.98 - plus shipping...
