This is the KM145 tranny. I'm swapping tranny and the replacement one has this. It's in the atf line to the cooler. The one on the top is the o/d solenoid valve. There are a couple of switches on the tcase for 4wd and lorange sensing, too. And there's a pulse generator on the back end of the tcase front output shaft. Not responsible for advice not taken... I was thinking it might be the Temp, but it's manual. I did noticed this one has the pulse generator as well. The one I took out didn't. Does 1986 has this feature? When I took out the old tranny, the wires were disconnected. There are 4 wires going up to the front; two red stripe and two yellow stripe. Which one hook up to the 4wd? What's the two extra for?
