Can someone tell me what the sensor on the side of the tranny is for? This is the KM145 tranny. I'm swapping tranny and the replacement one has this.

ATF temp sensor, if you mean the one on the pside of the tranny. It's in the atf line to the cooler. The one on the top is the o/d solenoid valve. There are a couple of switches on the tcase for 4wd and lorange sensing, too. And there's a pulse generator on the back end of the tcase front output shaft.

But this one is manual. I was thinking it might be the Temp, but it's manual.

I did noticed this one has the pulse generator as well. The one I took out didn't. Does 1986 has this feature?

When I took out the old tranny, the wires were disconnected. There are 4 wires going up to the front; two red stripe and two yellow stripe. Which one hook up to the 4wd? What's the two extra for? Some of the connectors (plug) on the wires were gone. So I can't tell.

Thanks.

Yeah, KM-145. Eddy's off his game today. Could it be the reverse light switch, F.E?

Duh, DUh, DUH...

Probably reverse light switch from the 87fsm diagrams, which are not real clear...
