My current set up is a 2005 TJ with procomp steelies 4.5 inch backspace and 31's. I'm looking to add a lift and run 33's but I'm not sure if they will rub using the wheels with 4.5 inch backspace or if I need to switch them out with a 3.75 inch backspaced wheel. What do you all think??
Thanks Nick

There is a turning stop on the dana 30 front axle that is easily adjusted with a wrench. Look on the inside of the steering knuckle for a bolt that contacts the axle on full lock. Install your lift and tires. If the tires rub, adjust the steering stop until they have no interference. The correct solution would be to then order the rims with less backspacing. If you adjust the steering stop you can be 100% sure if you need new rims or not before you order them.

Personally, I would bite the bullet and change the wheel rims to 3.75 backspacing or run 1 inch spacer on the wheels.
You can play with the bolt adjustment and probably attain the necessary stop point.
But, tires have a way of settling at low air pressure and no tire is the same with respect to side-wall flex.
There is a high probability you will have no problems with the lift and stock rims.
But, there is a potential...
In short, fill-up a "build sheet" with what your ultimate goal is and research to see if there are any known issues with compatibility of mods.
The majority of people I have talked with doing a TJ lift have changed rims. Most change because they want other than stock rim look.
So, cage it, lift it, lock it and winch it....

About that last line - aside from that not being the most FUN way to go (I'm not saying I disagree....), If I hadn't Winched mine first, I'd have lost it in deep quagmire long before I could do the rest. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/cheers.gif" alt="" />
