Just scored a full locking rear-end out of an SR which will be going into this rig. Will post project pics although I anticipate a direct bolt-in.

Sweet! If the Deli truly is the same chassis as the GenI Montero, then it's easy peasy. The only issue you may run into is the driveshaft yoke/u-joint that's been noted by a couple folks that have done the swap. It's nothing that a competent driveline shop can't handle though. Good luck!

Fasteddy's advice is occasionally sound...

The older style Delica L300 is based on Gen I Montero/Pajero (pre 91)

The L400 Spacegear (one in the pic) is based on Gen II Montero/Pajero (post 92)

I matched everything up prior. It's a direct bolt-on.

Only two things I need to do.

Swap out the ring gear (Montero 4.625 vs 4.9 Spacegear)
& Coil perches.

Montero has larger diameter coils than the Spacegear.

Other than that, it's an identical rear end - driveline front to back, side to side.

The best part is I got it all for $200. whole axle incl brakes, ECU, wiring, compressor and switch.

I'm going to make it look like it was a factory option although it wasn't (damn you Mitsubishi !)

Unfortunately I'm nursing a broken ankle so it will be a few weeks before the official transplant.

... good.. bad.. I'm the guy with the gun.

Not bad for a minivan

Good ground clearance - no driveline hangups
Great approach angle

A very good excursion into the extreme north of Russia :

link to the post : http://www.delicaclub.ru/forum/index.php?/topic/8863-neneckii-avtonomnii-okrug-barencevo-more-vara/

The destination place name is Varandey (Варандей) . Here is the track: http://www.gpsies.com/map.do?fileId=pbjihtbsaqyexpgd

PDF file of their expedition from St. Petersburg up to the northern sea.

Gives you a good idea of where these things can go.

Or just transplant a montero driveline in it. Will probably bolt right in.

Well the rear end is the same. It's a unibody so all the channels are there. I've seen on guy down south who just bolted in the subframe, etc. It's the same vehicle/body. It would take more work to custom fab something but then again a project is a project
