front drivers side noise

hello all I was wondering if anyone can help me or heard this sound before.its a whooshing noise coming from my drivers side front end on my 97 4runner i only hear it when i reach 45mph or more. my runner has 150,000 miles on it. i took off the wheel and checked the brakes and they seem fine. any help would be great thanks.

Might check the grommets where the wire harnesses go thru the firewall to see if one is out of position. That lets a lot of noise in the cab; common on the older Toys.

thanks for your reply,but it sounds more like a rotating noise rather than a wind noise. i'm wondering if it isn't a bad u joint or bearing,but i don't know what they sound like when they go.

Get under there with a flashlight and start looking around; always start with a visual inspection. Check the CV's. After that, get a friend, put the truck in the air on jackstands, and 'drive' it.

well i got under there again and all the cv boots are in really good shape didn't sound like they made the noise when i spun them, but when i grabbed the drivers side wheel and moved it side to side there was about 1/4 to 3/8 play in the wheel where the other side had none am i safe to say i have a wheel bearing going out or is this normal for the front wheel? thanks all
