This is a question about reconnecting fuel vent hoses in a 1989 V6 Raider.

My fuel filler tube leaked, so I disconnected the fuel filler protector and cut away the fuel filler tube and the breather tube. Finally got them back on. The breather tube is about twice the diameter of a vent hose. It connects to the fuel tank at the left side of the main fuel filler line, and to the right side of the filler neck.

The back of the fuel filler protector has 2 small vent hoses, a short one connected to a check valve and a long one connected to what I think is an overfill protector valve.

I disconnected both vent lines. But now I don't remember, and can't see, where the long vent hose connects. Can anyone help?

This has taken forever and has gotten to be a real pain.

Any help would be appreciated.

Here's the back side of the fuel filler protector, showing two vent hoses, labeled "1" and "2".

Here's the replacement fuel filler tube and the breather tube, along with a metal vent line I've labeled "1". The short vent hose (labeled "1" above) connects here.

Another view of the filler hose, breather hose, and metal vent tube ("1").

What do I do with vent hose #2?

HELP!

Mystery solved!

When I installed the aftermarket fuel filler tube, I inadvertently blocked the second metal vapor line. The metal line sits on the right side of the tank's fuel stem. To fix the situation, I'll withdraw the fuel filler tube about 1/2 or 3/4 inch, just enough to provide access to the vent tube.
