I need a torque converter for my Montero. The torque converter I need has a pink circle on it and then a 2H stamped near it. Not sure what years are compatible but I've got a '93.

Not too keen on shipping something off to Arizona to have it fixed. There are plenty of places around here. Plus, it's not repairable per a torque converter repair shop recommendation considering the housing is bent. I can get it new for $170 and re-manufactured for $150. I can get one from the junkyard for $30 but unless a transmission and engine are separated I'll be spending a fair amount of time trying to pull one. Which is what I might end up doing. I was just trying to avoid this.

Getting the Wheeling Fever
There's a guy down the street from my office (Boulder, CO) who's parting out a 1993 Montero with automatic transmission - 3.0L engine. I know they're planning on pulling the transmission and crushing the rest in the next week. They might be willing to sell the torque converter separately from the transmission. I've pulled some parts from the truck myself, so far they seem like good folks to deal with.

Here's the craigslist posting:
1993 Mitsubishi Montero, V6 Auto, Has Cracked Head or Needs Gaskets - $600 (Boulder)

All or will part out. Has a clean body, interior is good except where stereo wiring was pulled out. Could be fixed or will part out. Transmission redone 15 months ago, seats have been recovered. Transmission $600, Seats $75 each, make offers. Limited slip rear differential as well.

Thanks, Marc. Just got off the phone with Doug and he didn't want to part the torque converter from the transmission cause he knew the transmission was good. But he said he would sell one to me for $120 for a remanufactured. Thanks again. Still looking.

mxmikie, I Googled the number and it ended up being a transmission shop. Since all you gave me was a number and no information regarding said $75 torque converter, I decided not to pursue that route. If you want to offer a deal to someone first you have to tell them there is a deal to be had. Anyone can give a toll-free number.

as I mentioned in the other parts thread:

My father went and looked at it yesterday, this is what he found:

[color:"blue"] I checked the one we have in the garage and did not find the markings you describe. What I did find on it was "60928 11/99" written with some kind of broad ink marker (white) on one side and stamped on the other side was "10 09" or "60 01" depending on which way you look at it. [/color]

He also says he thinks it's about 25lbs for shipping.

Let me know if it's something you want to try.
