1987 22re. My oil pressure gauge suddenly croaked. Thought it maybe a bad connection (to gauge or connector to harness but no luck). I put a volt meter to ground on the connector and see voltage varying from 5 to 9 volts ???? Doesn't seem right. Where does this voltage originate? Any suggestions for further troubleshooting? I'm nervous without it....

FSM has a long troubleshooting section on the gauge. It sends out a voltage to the sender and measures the resulting current.
