It is that. When pelosi announced it at the press release, it was sickening to see her stand in front of the portrait of washington. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/barf.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/barf.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/barf.gif" alt="" />

The question is: Which representative will loose the next election because they voted in favor????

I have friends with no insurance and debilitating diseases they have no way to pay to get treated, and even they are against this. I was a bit surprised, given their circumstances.

I need help with this. You guys are opposed to the reforms mainly because it states everyone MUST have a healthcare plan whether they like it or not (correct?) AND in your view this country cannot afford to fund the reforms. Do I have that right?

That's part of it - but certainly not all. The US House Bill also:

1) Taxes those who own better (more expensive) policies.
2) Raises taxes on higher earners to pay for this stuff.
3) Sets up a federally run insurance consortium in competition with private industry that will ultimately get larger and larger until it consumes the entire insurance provider industry..... a defacto takeover.
4) Provides subsidized or free insurance for those who cannot afford it.
5) Reduces MediCare benefits to seniors in order to cover more people for free.
6) Includes another "off balance sheet" bill that pays doctors - what - $300B - the "extra" bill was written so the total cost wasn't attributed to healthcare reform and the total cost would appear less than actual.
7) Places a tax on medical devices that will increase the cost of certain procedures, causing an increase in insurance premiums.

There's plenty more.......... so who's kidding whom? This is healthcare reform? Hardly - it's more like Robin Hood and the Merry Thieves...... pandering to the same old crowd.

You may have noticed the TV ad now running that shows the federal plan to provide flu vaciine - 125 million doses were planned..... and we're short 93 million. Now, I know that vaccines can be difficult to produce, but if this is the best the government can do in the healthcare field, I can imagine what the future would bring with politicos in charge.

We are opposed to THIS healthcare "reform" because it not reform.

What we do need is some of the following.

Insurance company reform. Where we can have nationwide competition between insurers.

Drug manufacturer reform...
where I don't have to watch commercials for prescription medication on television, and where the drug companies arent making billions with which to lobby congress with.

Why we don't need this bill.

WE ARE EFFIN BROKE ALREADY.

I mean.. if everything was peachy, money flying out of every orifice, i MIGHT could see trying something like this, but.... when we are down and out... ?? I'm lost.

I hope you like paying for someone elses health care. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />
