Getting the Wheeling Fever
I don't know where it might have wound up at but it sure looks like there should be a c-clip or some sort of retainer that goes on the bottom of the linkage pin.

Can anyone confirm this?

Yep, it's a goofy looking piece of metalà hard to describe.

Take a .5"x1" piece of metal, fold it in half, and then punch out the middle and one edge, then bend the ends out.
