My son disconnected the battery on his '97 Cherokee to do some work. When he re-connected it, all the lights (inside and out) started flashing and and the ignition was disabled. We can't find any aftermarket alarm system. Is there a way to reset a factory security system without a remote?

Problem solved, found the aftermarket system valet switch!!! Turned the ignition on, pushed the switch three times and that was it.

Alot of times, if you turn the ignition key to the run position, THEN connect the battery, the aftermarket alarm will be turned off, allowing normal starting.

Thanks, probably the one thing I didn't try! I'll remember that one.
