Anyone else use Bunny Ears to pick up TV off the Air?

I was playing with a 42" LCD TV I picked up for $100 and found it downloads a full guide from every channel with description etc.. I was especially surprised to find it has an HD DTV tuner built in, and it was made September 2007.

My other TV, a 42" LG I bought new in March of this year doesn't even do channel guides.. I'm bummed, but at least it has a better HD tuner.

Depending where you live and what shows you watch, you can save a buttload on cable bills with a $18 antenna at bestbuy.

Not my favorite show, just an example:

Where I'm at, all I can pick up is 5 different versions of the local religious channel, but it is crystal clear and in stereo

Yes, it does rock. I find myself comparing the OTA signal to my digital cable HD service on things like sporting events, and almost invariably, the picture and sound are both better from the ($11 at Wal Mart) antenna.

Not nearly as much selection, though. I need my South Park in near-continuous rotation on various channels.

Uh oh...

If your TV came with a digital tuner installed, do you even need an antenna? In Japan they've had digital "air waves" for some time already, and my Bravia LCD that I brought home has the tuner integrated. I need to go home and see if it works! I didn't know they had it up and running...

The antenna is required, unless your TV has one built in, which is unlikely. I use the cheapest one I could find at best buy, and it isn't even a powered antenna.

With a DTV tuner built into your TV, cable stations I think should be transmitting the larger network channels in HD as well. I'll find out in a few weeks when I move and have cable included in the rent.

Amen brother. That's worth the $100/mo that my cable costs.

I can get South Park for free on the internet. I don't watch it, so I don't have the link handy, but a friend of mine sends me links for episodes she thinks we'll find common ground on (Like the Prius episode ).

But, I don't have a big, flat tv. I only have the one 27"CRT hanging on the wall. We hardly watch it anymore since we have Netflix and watch pretty much anything on my laptop. $10 a month, no contract.

Technically, I guess one could throw my internet access fee in there as well ($39.95), but I'd have that fee with or without Netflix, so I don't count them together.
